In April of this year (appropriately, near Earth Day), one of our
parents volunteered to set up and maintain a worm composting bin.
She brought in the worms and had the kids look at them with magnifying
glasses. She talked about composting and recycling and then had
the children tear up newspapers to put into the composting bin.
|
Now, twice a week, the children feed the bin with some food waste
from our lunches. In about six months, we should have dynamite compost
for our garden. We thank our parent volunteer for doing this for and
for teaching the children that worms are more than just wiggly, squiggly.
This is an example of some of the great parent
involvement we have here.
